My Saint is Joan Of Arc is a very brave and inspiring. She was born in France on January 6, 1412 and died when she was only 19 years old. She was born to parents who were shepherds. When she was 13, she began to hear voices which she thought were sent by God, who was giving her a very important mission. At that time, France was in conflict with England. Joan’s mission was to save her country from the enemy and also make Charles VII the rightful French king. She convinced Charles to let her lead the French army. In 1429, dressed in white armor and riding a white horse Joan was able to defeat, along with her army, the English soldiers by forcing them to flee across the Loire River. Joan became very famous. One year later, the king ordered Joan to go into another battle. However in this battle she was taken captive. She was put on trial for 70 charges against her. She was blamed for witchcraft and dressing like a man, and a lot of other things. King Charles did not even try to save her. After a year as a captive, on the morning of May 30, nineteen year old Joan was burned at the stake. Her fame increased after death. King Charles VII cleared her name with a new trial that took place 20 years later. She was canonized (made saint) in in 1920 by Pope Benedict XV.
The first reason that Joan of Arc is inspirational is that in her short life, all the time she knew what she wanted and she was very dedicated in getting it. For example, when her dad tried to marry her to someone, she successfully convinced the local court that she should not be made to marry. Also, even though she was very young, she believed her mission is to save her country from the enemy. She had very good skills in talking to different people. For example, she convinced the future king Charles VII to let her lead the army against the enemy even though she did not have any military training. Even though a lot of other people were against it, Charles let her do that. Joan’s life shows us that if you put your mind to it, you might accomplish great unbelievable things.
The second reason that Joan of Arc is inspirational is because of her believe in God and her spiritual values. She had great faith and that is why she was so successful. She even influenced the soldiers to follow her and save France because she believed that God gave her this mission. She even decided not to marry but give her life to God and her country and fellow men. She even gave her life for her believes and France.
In conclusion, Joan of Arc was a hero and a very inspirational saint. We can learn many things from her. Like how she became a saint, why was she special and how inspirational and how brave she can be and how brave we can be. We can be more dedicated to our goals and know that if you put your mind to it, with perseverance and faith in God we can accomplish many things. This Saint relates to my life because if someone tells me to do something or tells me to try something I am sometimes scared or nervous, but I have to believe in myself and my friend also believe in me so I should try my hardest and reach to my goals.
